Wheelhouse

Steersman

Duties unique to this position include:

  • Keeping his or her TOAR properly filled out after each successful completion of an assessment and initialed by the DE
  • Complying with all navigational rules set forth by the USCG Navigation Rules and Regulations Handbook, FMT Safe Navigational Practices and Navigation Rules found in our Safety Management System
  • Complete all criteria and testing required by our Personal Development Program

Pilot

Duties unique to this position include:

  • Accomplishing the objective of each voyage as defined in the “Voyage Plan”
  • Assist in coordinating and conducting safety meetings, drills and inspections
  • Operating the towing vessel and its tow in a manner that does not pose a threat to life, property or the environment

Relief Captain

Duties unique to this position include:

  • Carry out the Masters authority while the Master is not present to make decisions with respect to safety, security and pollution prevention
  • Assist the Captain with weekly/monthly/quarterly safety activities and ensure they are performed and properly documented
  • Complying with the laws of navigation and the entire body of statutes that regulate our industry

Captain

Duties unique to this position include:

  • The safe and efficient day-to-day overall management of the vessel
  • Complying with the laws of navigation and the entire body of statutes that regulate our industry
  • The supervision of all persons onboard in carrying out their assigned duties

Engineering

Learn our equipment inside and out

Duties unique to this position include:

  • Having a general understanding of, but not limited to, the following:
    • Steering and Hydraulic Systems
    • Marine Sanitation Devices
    • Vessel Piping Arrangements
    • Electrical and Pneumatic systems
  • Demonstrating the ability and knowledge of troubleshooting techniques
  • Having knowledge of fueling different types of vessels and fuel consumption

Tankerman

Hands-on work ensuring safe cargo transfers

Duties unique to this position include:

  • Loading and discharging barges
  • performing barge preventative maintenance
  • knowledge of cargoes carried by Florida Marine

Deckhand
